60 Ted Talks Underway

Hello, 60! My TED Talk journey has begun.

Early in my career, mid 2000's I think, I was fortunate enough to work at an incredible company, Scripps Networks (later Scripps Networks Interactive, Discovery, and Warner Bros Discovery). The company provided us a virtual ticket and access via some early form of streaming to the TED Conference. It was a relatively new thing back then as I recall. The general idea was to host this exclusive paid event/conference and have experts and renowned speakers covering all kinds of subject areas give succinct, 20 minute or so long, talks that inspired curiosity, purveyed perspective, and shined light on otherwise dim or obscured subjects. The TED motto became "Ideas Worth Spreading" (recently changed to "Ideas Change Everything"). I just remember feeling somewhat overwhelmed by the breadth of subject matter and trying to orient my days to take in as much of the event as possible while also working. I loved the content and the speakers, found it highly motivating, and looked forward to this opportunity every year. Eventually the talks became available after the fact on-line and we quit having access to the live conference. But the talks were there and available. But, for whatever reason, my interest waned, and I didn't actively pursue the talks anymore. I had the app on my phone, and occasionally some talk that caught fire on social media might garner a look. But, in essence I quit taking in Ted.

Fast forward to today. I thought this would be a great source of content to intentionally consume again . . . a revisit to this old source of inspiration. So here we are. There's now about 8 bazillion talks so once again I turned to AI to help me sort through the options and create a viewing sequence. I prompted Claude to do the job. Consider my history, my categories and lists of intentions, etc. and recommend top talks and a sequence in which to consume them.

If you're interested, here's The Plan: 60-TED-Talks-Weekly-Plan.pdf

I'm eight or ten talks in now and really enjoying this format again. I've created a habit of waking up 60 minutes earlier and included Ted Talks as one of the elements of my new morning Hello, 60! time. So far so good! If you go to my Hello, 60! site and pull up the intention, you can see the talks listed out in order along with a list and small summary as I watch them.

That's it for now. Maybe this will encourage you to revisit TED! Whatever you choose to do, live a great story! Maybe one day you'll be on the TED stage.
